National League

Glensburgh

Grangemouth U16’s 0   Dunfermline U16’s 31

Grangemouth hosted Dunfermline on Sunday and although the score line was heavily in favour of the Fife team a lot of positives came out of the day for the Grangemouth youngsters.

The local team took to the field with around 6 players who have any level of rugby experience but the new lads to the team could not be faulted for their attitude and commitment. With this section of the club growing in number, 25+ most weeks, regular coaching and adoption of the basic rugby techniques will see them go from strength to strength.

So to the game, it was obvious from the outset that the Young Stags were up against a more experienced group of boys and spent most of the match on the back foot. Over the course of the game the boys defended really well with Jamie McNab in particular showing his tackling prowess with some awesome hits. However they could not secure or retain enough possession to put the Fifers under real pressure.

Dunfermline managed to put 5 tries past the locals but were made to work for every score.

In addition to Jamie, Ollie Kitchin, James Denny, Lewis McPhee and Iain Scott made other notable contributions but they were all well supported by their new teammates.

Well done lads, keep turning up and learning at training and the good times are just around the corner.
